CLAY @ CULTURE CLUB

CLAY @ CULTURE CLUB

Photos from Tuesday nights Culture Club at Dunfanaghy Family Resource Centre where participants were again invited to play with clay.

Moulding potter’s clay offers profound therapeutic benefits by engaging the mind and body in a grounding, tactile experience that reduces stress and enhances emotional well-being. Moving your hands through clay triggers a chemical reward cycle in the brain, lowering cortisol (stress hormone) levels and prompting the release of serotonin and dopamine. Our participants have found the creative activity very relaxing and fun. One participant who had a particularly busy day said while he was moulding the clay that he just forgot about the stress the day had brought. He was so relaxed from the exercise, he actually fell asleep for a bit! 💤😅

“You don’t have to be good at art for art to be good for you.”

The Culture Club is a weekly session for all adults to promote health & wellbeing. Everyone is welcome to come along on a Tuesday evening 6-8pm where everyone is invited to take part in cultural/story exchanges and creative arts activities over cups of tea and treats.
